Diary - Melbourne 2006

Day 16 (Saturday, October 14th, 2006)

Dear Diary ...

another day with the host families, who really make things happen all the time. Think Phillip Island and the penguin parade, think excursions to the beach, think shopping in malls ...

day16We certainly get the feeling to be more than welcome in this country, how else could you explain all the efforts made by the hosting families to get us involved in amazing activities. Inspite of the somewhat lessening heat (there was a little of that badly needed rain, but the afternoon cleared up again for another day on the beach!), everybody seemed on the move again and could enjoy the break from school - although Melisa, particularly, claims to be wanting to get back as soon as possible: we've never heard that of students before! Good on you, Oxley College! (how do you do it?)

Some of us even got a special treatment that weekend, as Luther College Deutschlehrerin George Cutler gave a sample of her opera skills as Papagena! There is hope to have a German choir soon in this College. We certainly would like to provide the music sheets and a bilingual music project from our side. So much talent on the go, to convince Victorian students to even intensify their language involvement.
